This year, Year 5 and 6 have begun a Citizenship programme. The programme is designed to instil a sense of pride and responsibility in young learners towards their local community while fostering an understanding of the issues it may face. The programme engages children in hands-on activities and discussions to help them appreciate their role as good citizens. As part of the initiative, the children explored their neighbourhood on a walk, identifying areas of concern and opportunities for improvement. They actively participated in a litter-picking activity, contributing to a cleaner and more welcoming environment.
Additionally, a visit from the local police provided an opportunity to discuss the impact of anti-social behaviour and how to combat it, empowering the students with knowledge about maintaining a positive community atmosphere. Through these activities, the programme aims to cultivate thoughtful, community-oriented individuals who are equipped to make a meaningful difference.
