Year 5 were lucky enough to complete a programme called Friend Resilience this term. It was ran by Skye from the Connect North Tyneside Education Mental Health Support (EMHS) Team and the sessions built on the pupils’ understanding of friendships and how we can face social challenges with resilience and positivity. They looked at helpful and unhelpful thoughts, feelings and emotions and how we can deal with tricky situations or problems. The children loved these sessions and have really taken on board strategies to help them when faced with difficulties. We even practiced relaxation techniques including; pizza massage, 5 finger breathing and birthday cake breathing!
